Unlike a standard wall band, the console plate can support vertical chimney weight. Therefore, it provides an important support point within a correctly designed internal or external TWPro chimney system.

Important: Wall fixings do not come with the plate. The installer must choose fixings that suit the building material, chimney load and installation conditions.

Application

The console plate creates a load-bearing support point within a correctly designed 125mm TWPro chimney system. For example, installers can use it where the chimney needs support from a strong wall or another suitable building surface.

It can form part of a chimney system serving:

• Compatible oil-fired appliances

However, always check the appliance and chimney instructions first. These instructions will confirm the required flue diameter, chimney class and support layout.

Load-Bearing Chimney Support

The TWPro Console Plate can support vertical chimney weight when the installer fits it correctly to a suitable structure. Therefore, it differs from standard wall bands, which provide lateral support only.

The amount of chimney that the plate can support depends on the full installation design, fixing method and supporting wall. As a result, the installer must check the TWPro loading data before fitting the plate.

Do not exceed the maximum permitted load. Also, do not rely on this plate if the wall or chosen fixings cannot safely carry the chimney weight.

Choosing the Correct Wall Fixings

The manufacturer does not supply wall fixings with this product. This is because the correct fixing type depends on the building surface and expected chimney load.

For example, fixing requirements can vary between:

• Solid brick walls
• Concrete walls
• Suitable blockwork
• Timber structures
• Other approved structural surfaces

Therefore, the installer must inspect the supporting surface and choose suitable corrosion-resistant fixings. If the structure cannot carry the load, use another approved support method.

Distance to Combustible Materials

Under its T600 G50 classification, the TWPro insulated chimney must remain at least 50mm away from combustible materials.

However, the console plate does not reduce the required clearance. Another part of the appliance or chimney system may also need a larger gap. Therefore, always follow the largest distance stated in the full installation instructions.

Installation Guidance

• First, plan the full chimney route and support positions
• Check the TWPro loading data before installation
• Confirm that the supporting wall can carry the chimney load
• Choose suitable third-party fixings for the wall material
• Make sure the mounting surface is strong, level and secure
• Fit the plate squarely so the chimney remains vertical
• Tighten every fixing to the correct level
• Connect the TWPro component in line with the system instructions
• Fit all required locking bands and lateral supports
• Maintain the required distance from combustible materials
• Finally, follow the appliance and TWPro installation instructions

This console plate forms a key load-bearing point within the chimney system. Therefore, a suitably competent installer should design and fit the complete installation. For solid-fuel systems, use a HETAS-registered installer where appropriate.

Console Plate or Wall Support?

A console plate supports vertical chimney weight. In contrast, a wall support or wall band mainly controls sideways movement.

Many chimney systems need both types of support. Therefore, do not replace required lateral wall bands with a console plate, and do not expect a standard wall band to carry vertical weight.

Compatibility

This console plate fits the 125mm TWPro and matching KW Flue systems only. Other twin-wall chimney brands use different outside diameters, joints and support designs. Therefore, do not use this plate with another system unless the manufacturer confirms compatibility.

The 125mm size refers to the internal flue diameter. TWPro pipe also contains 25mm of insulation around the inner casing. As a result, the connected twin-wall pipe has an outside diameter of approximately 175mm.
