Create a neat seal around a compatible roof pipe with the MI-FLUES MI-Flash No. 3 EPDM Roof Flashing. The flexible EPDM cone can fit pipes from 6mm to 102mm, while the aluminium base forms around the shape of the roof.

MI-FLUES makes the EPDM material to resist damage from weather, ozone and ultraviolet light. Therefore, it provides a durable solution for suitable low-temperature pipe penetrations through profiled and compatible roof surfaces.

The flashing has a compact 203mm x 203mm base and suits roof pitches from flat up to 45 degrees. The installer can trim the stepped cone to match the outside diameter of the pipe.

Important: The standard fixing kit does not come with this flashing. You will need one fixing kit to install one flashing.

What Is an EPDM Roof Flashing?

An EPDM roof flashing creates a flexible seal where a pipe passes through a roof. The installer trims the rubber cone to suit the pipe diameter. The cone then stretches around the pipe to create a close fit.

The flexible aluminium base follows the shape of the roof. Sealant and suitable screws then hold the flashing in position and help stop water from entering around the pipe opening.

EPDM also resists sunlight, ozone and outdoor weather. As a result, it suits many compatible low-temperature roof penetrations.

The MI-Flash No. 3 can suit compatible low-temperature roof penetrations such as:

Always check the pipe’s outside diameter and surface temperature before ordering. The product must not operate above its stated temperature limit.

Choosing the Correct Opening

The EPDM cone has stepped size markings. These markings help the installer choose where to cut the opening.

Choose an opening that remains slightly smaller than the pipe’s outside diameter. The EPDM can then stretch around the pipe and create a close seal.

Measure the outside of the pipe rather than its internal bore. In addition, check that the pipe diameter falls within the flashing’s stated range.

How to Install the MI-Flash No. 3

1. Measure the outside diameter of the pipe.
2. Choose the correct step on the EPDM cone.
3. Cut the opening carefully with a sharp knife or suitable scissors.
4. Slide the flashing over the pipe.
5. Use a suitable EPDM-compatible lubricant if required.
6. Press and shape the flexible base to match the roof profile.
7. Lift the base and apply suitable weatherproof sealant underneath it.
8. Secure the base with the correct roofing fixings.
9. Follow the roof profile when positioning the screws.
10. Check the seal around the pipe and the complete base.

Do not cut the opening too large. A loose opening may not seal correctly around the pipe. If you feel unsure about the correct cutting point, start with a smaller opening and enlarge it carefully.

• Fit the flashing to a clean and dry roof surface
• Use sealant and fixings that suit the roof material
• Use only lubricants that suit EPDM rubber
• Do not use sharp tools near the finished seal
• Keep the EPDM cone free from cuts and damage
• Do not exceed the stated 100°C temperature limit
• Check that the flashing suits the roof pitch
• Follow all relevant roofing and pipe-system instructions
