Connect a compatible MI-FLEX flexible flue liner to a TWPro twin-wall chimney with the TWPro 125mm Chest Mounting Plate. The plate fits on top of a suitably lowered masonry chimney stack. It then creates a neat and secure change from flexible liner to insulated twin-wall flue.

Once fitted, the TWPro chimney can continue vertically above the existing stack. Therefore, this plate provides a practical solution when upgrading an existing masonry chimney with a flexible liner and a TWPro chimney above it.

Important: You must make the change from MI-FLEX liner to TWPro inside the existing Class 1 chimney stack. Before ordering, ask a suitably qualified installer to check the complete chimney design.

Application

This chest mounting plate connects a compatible MI-FLEX flexible liner inside an existing masonry chimney to a 125mm TWPro insulated chimney above the stack.

For example, it can form part of a correctly designed flue system for:

• Wood-burning stoves

• Other suitable solid-fuel appliances
• Compatible gas appliances
• Compatible oil-fired appliances

However, always check the appliance instructions first. These instructions will confirm the correct flue size, chimney class and installation method.

Where Does the Chest Mounting Plate Fit?

The plate fits on top of a suitably lowered masonry chimney stack. First, the MI-FLEX liner rises through the existing chimney and connects beneath the plate. Next, the TWPro twin-wall chimney continues vertically above the plate.

The change from flexible liner to TWPro must stay inside the existing Class 1 chimney stack. Do not place the liner connection outside the chimney, as it may not have the protection it needs.

Standard or Push-Fit Chest Mounting Plate?

This product is the standard TWPro Chest Mounting Plate, model 37-125-062. TWPro also offers a separate push-fit version under model 37-125-064.

Distance to Combustible Materials

Under its T600 G50 classification, the TWPro insulated chimney system must remain at least 50mm away from combustible materials.

However, another part of the installation may need a larger gap. For example, the appliance, flexible liner or chimney design may have different clearance rules. Therefore, always follow the largest distance stated in the full installation instructions.

• First, confirm that the existing chimney is a suitable Class 1 chimney
• Inspect and prepare the masonry chimney before starting
• Lower the chimney stack to the correct level for the installation
• Keep the MI-FLEX-to-TWPro connection inside the chimney stack
• Secure the plate with suitable fixings for the supporting masonry
• Use a compatible flexible liner in the correct size and class
• Connect the matching TWPro component correctly above the plate
• Fit all required locking bands and chimney supports
• Keep the chimney straight, secure and correctly supported
• Maintain the required distance from combustible materials
• Finally, follow the appliance, liner and TWPro installation instructions

This plate forms a key supporting point within the chimney system. Therefore, a suitably competent installer should design and fit the complete system. For solid-fuel installations, use a HETAS-registered installer where appropriate.

Compatibility

This component fits the 125mm TWPro and matching KW Flue systems only. Other twin-wall chimney brands use different joints, sizes and locking methods. Therefore, do not mix this plate with another system unless the manufacturer confirms compatibility in writing.

The 125mm size refers to the internal flue diameter. TWPro pipe also contains 25mm of insulation around the inner casing. As a result, the outside diameter of the connected twin-wall pipe is about 50mm larger than the stated internal size.
